This is a harp arrangement of the composition Fanny Power by Turlough O’Carolan. It is inspired by the version of harpist Andrea Piazza.

Description

I used to listen to a tape in my mother’s car when I was a kid. It was a harp concert by Andrea Piazza. I still have all the melodies in my head even if I don’t remember the titles. One of the pieces was “Fanny Power” by Turlough O’Carolan, that I rediscovered a few years ago with one of my students, who brought it to the lesson. I decided to write my own arrangement of Fanny Power, with some inspiration by the Andrea Piazza version. Have fun with this arrangement!

Turlough O’Carolan was a blind irish harper who traveled this country and played for his hosts. He composed pieces for them to honor them and thank them for heir hospitality. The titles of his compositions often refer to them. He is very popular among harpists. One of his most famous pieces is “Miss MacDermott” or “Princess Royal” that I also recorded:
